Originally, those of Master status were mainly the followers of Sorbonne, or
their descendants. However, over the many decades it has become apparent that even the newest
of arrivals through the portal are as capable of gaining that rank as any who had lived within the
mythical city for eons.
Opportunities to be a part of how the government of Shangrila runs is
opened to any and all Masters and Mistresses who wish to embark on such a path.
However, all such positions are decided upon by the voting public. While a
Denizen or Citizen may be unable to acquire those offices themselves, they may
be heard in who they vote for and thus, the better treated the population is by
a candidate, the more likely said candidate will be voted for by the masses. It
also behooves a titled Master or Mistress to treat the public well, if they
wish to be re-elected into office.
